Synthesekraftstoffe (SynFuels) werden durch die thermochemische Vergasung von nachwachsenden Rohstoffen sowie biogenen und regenerativen Reststoffen und einem sich anschließenden Synthese-Prozess zu einem dieselähnlichen Kraftstoff mit ausgezeichneten Eigenschaften (Designer-Kraftstoff) hergestellt.

Der BBK fördert derzeitig zahlreiche neue Technologien bei der Entwicklung von innovativen Technologien und der Realisierung von Pilotanlagen.

Thermochemische Vergasungsverfahren in der Umsetzung von Stroh, Holz und Hochkalorik werden vom BBK begleitet.

Innovative Verfahren werden von Verbandsmitgliedern aus dem Bereich anwendungsorientierter Forschung auf wirtschaftliche und technische Machbarkeiten geprüft und bei positivem Votum auch zur Förderung staatlicher oder EU-Investitionen empfohlen.

BioSynfuels müssen langfristig steuerlich begünstigt am Markt etabliert werden.
Zahlreiche Forschungsvorhaben sind in diesem Bereich noch erforderlich, um den Stand der Technik zu erreichen.

Synthesekraftstoffe sind flüssige und gasförmige Energieträger, die auch zukünftig als Erdgassubstitue verwendet werden können.
